The leader of the Championship and the event, Kalle Rovanperä, ideally launches his last day of competition in New Zealand by signing the scratch in SS14.
The lesson from this first timed sector is that you should not expect big gaps on the very short stages on the program today – Whitford Forest – Te Maraunga Waiho (8,82 km) and Jacks Ridge (6,77 km) – which are to be run twice.
Sébastien Ogier takes second place at 0″6 and Ott Tänak the third at 1″4.
Tänak is now third in the general classification at 47″8, which makes Rovanperä the virtual 2022 World Champion.
But there are still 3 special stages including the final Power Stage and it's at the end of the ball that we pay the orchestra...
