Before returning to the assistance for the final stretch of the Rally From Japan, the competitors returned to Kuragaike Park during SS17, which was used last Thursday in the other direction for the Shakedown and which will also be the scene of SS18 coming in a few minutes, on the occasion of a first Super Special of 2,56 kilometers.
Second in the provisional overall standings, Sébastien Ogier Vincent Landais and Elfyn Evans took the opportunity to set their second fastest time of the rally after yesterday's stage 10. With this performance, the reigning World Champions are now 16,6 seconds behind Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin, who remain in the lead.
Takamoto Katsuta and Aaron Johnston set the second fastest time on the stage, tied with Oliver Solberg and Elliott Edmondson, four-tenths of a second behind Ogier and Landais. Sami Pajari and Marko Salminen maintain a 19,1-second lead over Katsuta and Johnston at the end of this 17th stage of the rally. Finally, in WRC2, Nikolay Gryazin and Alejandro Cachón posted the exact same time: 5,6 seconds still separate them.
