For this 4th special of the Rally In Aléria, the competitors returned to the timed section at the Shooting Range, which had been used this morning for the first leg of the day. And as was the case this morning, this afternoon the starting order is determined by the choices made by the 10 best performers from SS1, which took place yesterday evening.

After setting the fastest time on SS3, which proved disastrous for Florent Todeschini – Florian Barral and Emmanuel Gascou – Gilles de Turckheim, Sarah Rumeau and Julie Amblard (Škoda Fabia RS Rally2) repeated their performance on SS4, recording their second consecutive fastest time of the rally. By beating their teammates Conner Martell and Alex Gelsomino (Škoda Fabia RS Rally2) by six-tenths of a second on this stage, they closed the gap to just three seconds behind the Americans in the overall standings.

They achieved the 3rd fastest time in this timed sector, as Damien Mattei and Geoffrey Combe (Škoda Fabia RS Rally2), unlucky this morning after a puncture in SS3, took second position in the special stage, just one-tenth of a second behind Sarah Rumeau and Julie Amblard. Quentin Ribaud – Loan Biagetti (Hyundai The i20N Rally2 drivers made the most of this stage, setting the third fastest time, 8 seconds off the pace, a performance that temporarily moved them up to third place in the standings. They now lead local drivers Jean-Philippe Quilichini and FX Buresi (Škoda Fabia RS Rally2) by 3,7 seconds and are gradually making up the 10-second penalty they received yesterday for arriving late at the start of SS1.

In SMRC4, Tom Pellerey and Kévin Bronner set the fastest time on the stage, ahead of Alexandre Villiod and Maëlle Casays, who still lead the provisional standings by 24,6 seconds over the aforementioned crew. It should be noted that Race Control, unlike this morning, allowed a two-minute gap between each car this afternoon after the crews in the Stellantis Motorsport One-Make Cup complained extensively about being hampered by the dust kicked up in Les Lunaries.
