Faced with the R5s of Dejean (Fiesta) and Enjolras (208 T16), neither Cardénas nor Vivens were favorites for this 18th edition of the Rally from the Pays Viganais, renamed Rondes Cévenoles Viganaises. In the end, however, it was they who pulled the chestnuts out of the fire at the end of an intense duel. Dejean took the lead on Saturday, despite a spin, with 10" ahead of Vivens and 12" over Enjolras. On Sunday, the Savoyard left with a 25” lead at the end of the first lap. But he suffered a puncture on SS6 and, with a damaged jack, immediately gave up.

Enjolras, who had regained 2nd place at the end of SS5, took over but did not pass the stage of SS7, engine out (overheating). Cardénas spun in SS8, Vivens found himself in the lead. But despite 2 new scratches, he could not avoid the return of the Bédaricien who had taken 10” from him in SS9. Cardénas won at the wire by 2”7! Behind Vivens, Durand took a deserved podium. 8th scratch, Liron was in group A and Aveyronnais Puech in group N. A. Lauret

Ranking : 1. Cardenas-Mercier (Peugeot 306 Max) 1h32 » (1erGr. F2000), 2. Vivens-Alle (DS3 R3) at 2” (1erGr. R), 3. Durand-Mercoiret (Renault Clio 3 RS) at 1'21", 4.
