This weekend in Portugal for the fifth round of the world championship WRC, M-Sport entered six cars: four Ford Puma Rally1s and two Ford Fiestas in WRC2. Pierre-Louis Loubet was in one of these two Fiestas. The Frenchman was making his return to competition on the Portuguese dirt roads. After a rather complicated 2024, he signed up for several rallies in 2025 with the British team.
In a team he already raced for in 2023, Loubet seems to have quickly found his groove. Thus, in conditions and on sometimes difficult roads, the Corsican had a clean weekend overall. And he did so by showing a nice improvement in his pace. Furthermore, in one category, WRC2, where no fewer than 47 crews were entered in Portugal, the Frenchman set several good times, entering the top 10 of a special stage several times. He even set an excellent 5th time on SS5.
Loubet after Portugal: "We know where we can improve"
Overall, despite a puncture on SS13 that caused him to lose some time, the M-Sport driver managed to secure seventh place overall in Portugal. He is also the second best Frenchman in Rally2 behind Yohan Rossel (2nd behind Solberg). "I'm happy with the result of our first experience with the car. We've optimized the package and I think we've done the most we can.", admits Pierre-Louis Loubet in a press release.
“There are still some areas for improvement and we know where we can improve. I'm very happy to be part of the team and I'm looking forward to the next event. I hope we'll be even better!”, he continues. Finally, as a reminder, the Corsican will be involved in the sixth round of the world championship. It will be in Sardinia, from June 5 to 8, again on gravel.
