Fourmaux, who started with only one spare wheel unlike the vast majority of his teammates who have two, set the best time on SS12, a few hours after his problem at the start of SS11, which forced him to stop to put his helmet back on correctly. The Northerner beat his teammate at Hyundai Ott Tänak, who took advantage of this to regain third place in the general classification, 1″4 ahead of the other Hyundai, that of Thierry Neuville. Fourmaux is now seven seconds behind Kalle Rovanperä in what is now the battle for fifth place overall.
Toyota retains the lead at the end of this SS12, and it is now with a six-second lead that Elfyn Evans can consider the next three stages of the day. The Welshman is ahead of Takamoto Katsuta, who hit a snow bank in the first kilometers of the stage. The Japanese caught up with his team-mate at the end of the course, but not enough to avoid losing a few seconds in the general standings.
Next departure at 15:05 p.m. for SS13 of this Rally from Sweden.
