Sweden – SS14: Neuville in front, Katsuta comes back on Evans

Thierry Neuville's second special stage victory of the day at Rally Sweden saw the Belgian consolidate his place on the podium, while the gap between the leading Toyotas narrowed.

Sweden – SS14: Neuville in front, Katsuta comes back on Evans

The contingent Hyundai has only two members left, following the release ofAdrien fourmaux during the thirteenth special. The Northerner, accompanied by his co-driver Alexandre Coria, was unable to start SS14 after getting stuck in a snow bank. Neuville et Thank you finished first and third, with the Toyota Takamoto Katsuta's lead between the two. The Japanese driver, after losing time to Elfyn Evans on the last stages, has taken back 2 seconds from his teammate, and is now six seconds behind in the general classification.

Elfyn Evans came close to a penalty at the exit of a right-hand bend, hitting a snow wall with the rear left of his Toyota Yaris Rally1. Fortunately for him, Evans did not suffer the same fate as Adrien Fourmaux, and he was able to reach the finish of the special stage without incident. His lead over Katsuta is nonetheless very uncomfortable before the third passage of the weekend in Umeå Sprint, from 18:05.

In the battle of the young guns for sixth place in the general classification, Martins Sesks now has a 12″9 lead over Sami Pajari, after having spun. The Latvian from M-Sport didn't let that get him down, and he finished the special one second ahead of his rival from Toyota!
