If only seven of them play the entire season, WRC, freelancers will take turns to complete the grid. Toyota count on Sébastien Ogier on some rounds only and was going to hire Lorenzo Bertelli in Sweden, before he withdrew. M-Sport, for its part, announced that a third Puma Rally1 would be on track in the hands of Jourdan Serderidis during certain rallies. Latvian Martins Sesks will also have the opportunity to show himself during six rounds, after having made a strong impression last year. Entered with a Puma without hybrid during the Rally from Poland (5th), he had performed well before signing a scratch during his national event (7th) a few weeks later.
The British team will welcome a new and unexpected freelancer. Spaniard José Antonio Suarez has announced his participation in the next Rally of the Canary Islands, which is making its debut on the calendar of the first division of the world rally. The native of Pravia, in Asturias, drove in WRC2 several years ago, but it is mainly in the Spanish Rally Championship that he has distinguished himself.
The one who calls himself tick (the rocket) will make its debut in the deep end by driving a Ford Puma Rally1 in the Rally of the Canaries. “I have dreamed of driving in the WRC my whole life since the first rally I saw in Portugal in 1996.” savors the 34-year-old pilot at the microphone of Overall Media. "I was close to making the junior championship, but I didn't do it. Life gives me another opportunity, we worked to get there and we're going to make the most of it."
The Canary Islands Rally will be held from April 24 to 27 as the fourth round of the season.
