Rally Sardinia – SS8: Ott Tänak wins, Adrien Fourmaux loses big!

What a twist and turn in this SS8! This second special of the day in Sardinia saw the victory of Ott Tänak, who has achieved his third scratch of the weekend. The driver Hyundai, on the attack, got the better of the two Toyota by Kalle Rovanperä (+8″1) and Elfyn Evans (+18″1).

On the other hand, his teammate, Adrien fourmaux did not suffer the same fate. Indeed, unluckily, the Frenchman suffered a puncture halfway through this SS8. He therefore said goodbye to any hope of a podium and victory since he lost more than 3'50 to the Estonian at the finish… In the provisional general standings, he is now 7th, 3'47 behind the leader…

Bad luck for Fourmaux and Rossel this Saturday in Sardinia

The provisional general, precisely, let's talk about him. Sébastien Ogier, the last to set off in this eighth special, behind… Fourmaux, was unfortunately hampered by the dust left by his compatriot in front of him. Logically, at the finish, the Haut-Alpin lost 29″7 to Tänak. In the standings, he therefore falls back to 2nd place, 18″7 behind the latter… But this should change since the stewards will re-attribute him a better time. This should logically put him back in the lead of the rally.

The bad luck for the French in this SS8 continued in WRC2. Indeed, Yohan Rossel also suffered a puncture after hitting a tree on a bend. Only 16th in this stage, 44″ behind Oliver Solberg, the Citroën driver therefore lost big and now finds himself fourth overall, 1 minute behind Gryazin!
