Hyundai Motorsport Team Principal Michel Nandan has since confirmed that the source of the leak has been identified and repaired.

Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) followed just over 8 seconds behind, ahead of Dani Sordo (Hyundai) and the Toyotas of Esapekka Lappi and Jari-Matti Latvala. Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai) and Craig Breen (Citroën) failed by more than 18 seconds by spinning in the special. Mads Ostberg (Citroën) was the slowest, 22 seconds behind.

Ott Tänak took back the lead of Rally Germany with a lead of just over 4 seconds over Sébastien Ogier. Thierry Neuville follows at 8 seconds, preceding Esapekka Lappi, while Elfyn Evans has returned to Dani Sordo. Jari-Matti Latvala slipped to 7th and is now ahead of Andreas Mikkelsen, while Craig Breen fell to 9th place ahead of teammate Mads Ostberg, with the Citroën drivers already half a minute behind the race lead.
