Ott Tänak (Toyota) gave up almost 25 seconds after suffering from a broken transmission. The Estonian was notably trapped when he went into a spin. He preceded Dani Sordo (Hyundai), Teemu Suninen (M-Sport) and Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) who finished slowly after the red flag was displayed.

The special was briefly interrupted following the accident of Esapekka Lappi (Citroën) who retired after tearing his suspension while in 9th place.

Thierry Neuville takes the lead Rally from Argentina for a dozen seconds ahead of Sébastien Ogier, while Ott Tänak fell back to 3rd position. Kris Meeke remains 4th, now ahead of Andreas Mikkelsen, Elfyn Evans and Dani Sordo who has lost two positions. Jari-Matti Latvala slipped to 9th behind Teemu Suninen, but the Toyota driver could recover a fixed time after being the only one to have to respect the red flag.
