Max Verstappen wins this first sprint race of the season ahead of Charles Leclerc and Sergio Pérez. The Dutchman pockets eight additional points.
Valtteri Bottas overtook Kevin Magnussen for seventh position.
Max Verstappen attacks on the straight and takes the lead from the outside of the first corner!
Max Verstappen returned in the wake of Charles Leclerc and put pressure on the Monegasque with three laps to go. Carlos Sainz passed Lando Norris.
Valtteri Bottas gets into the points by getting the better of Fernando Alonso on the pit straight. Black and white flag for Spanish for zigzags.
Carlos Sainz continues his comeback by overtaking Daniel Ricciardo for fifth place.
Charles Leclerc still dominates this sprint race after 14 laps. He has a second and a half ahead of Max Verstappen.
Sergio Pérez passed Lando Norris for third place. Carlos Sainz gets rid of Magnussen for sixth.
Daniel Ricciardo throws himself into the first corner to overtake Kevin Magnussen and find himself 5th. The Dane is under pressure from Sainz now.
Valtteri Bottas leaves Sebastian Vettel no chance for ninth place.
Open DRS and soft tires, Sergio Pérez drops Kevin Magnussen on the start-finish straight for fourth place.
Spanish duel in the peloton and Carlos Sainz gets the better of Fernando Alonso at the first corner for seventh position.
Black and white flag for Kevin Magnussen for changing trajectory in a straight line in front of Sergio Pérez.
Charles Leclerc immediately took cover from Max Verstappen to avoid an attack from the Dutchman on the restart.
The race is restarted on the fifth lap.
The start was complicated for the Mercedes. George Russell is 12th, Lewis Hamilton only 15th.
Sergio Pérez got off to an excellent start unlike Max Verstappen. The Mexican is fifth behind Kevin Magnussen when he started in seventh position.
Guanyu Zhou will not restart so Pierre Gasly must return to the pits to change his front wing.
