Kopecky (Skoda) set the provisional best time in WRC 2 with a time of 33'52″1. Bonato follows just 3 tenths behind at the wheel of the new Citroën C3 R5. Veiby completes the provisional top three at 18s after committing a spin. Loubet (Hyundai) is in 5th place behind Andolfi (Skoda) almost half a minute from the head of the category. Lefebvre (Citroën), on the other hand, finished more than a minute behind.

The SS1 of the Tour de Corse, the 49,03km of La Porta – Valle di Rostino, has already stretched the WRC peloton with very significant gaps. Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport) set a great time by completing the course in 31'53''8. Only Sébastien Loeb (Citroën) was able to finish less than ten seconds (9''7) behind, with Ott Tänak (Toyota) following 18 seconds behind!

Some drivers have already lost a lot of time at the front of the race. Kris Meeke (Citroën) followed 19 seconds ahead of Thierry Neuville (Hyundai). Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) finished more than half a minute behind, ahead of the Hyundais of Dani Sordo and Andreas Mikkelsen by several seconds. The Toyotas of Esapekka Lappi and Jari-Matti Latvala failed by more than 43 seconds. Bryan Bouffier (M-Sport) followed at 50 seconds.

Loeb kept the pace! The Citroën driver finished 9”7 behind Ogier with more than 8 seconds ahead of the next rider, Tänak.

Sordo fails 36s behind Ogier. The Spaniard set the 5th provisional time, finishing almost 15 seconds behind his teammate Neuville.

Lappi finished 43″2 behind, 3s better than his teammate Latvala. The two Finns nevertheless failed more than 20 seconds behind their teammate Tänak.

The gaps are all the more surprising as Ogier does not seem to have been entirely comfortable in the special. Is this a psychological strategy to hurt your opponents a little more?
