Rally Germany 2019
The crews still have 4 stages to compete in the second stage of the Rally Germany, including the famous Panzerplatte special and its 41km covered twice. Teemu Suninen (M-Sport) should start on the next course from 15:08 p.m.
Nicolas Ciamin (Volkswagen) was stopped in the special while leading WRC 2.
Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) took the scratch in SS11 of the Rally Germany by completing the 12,28km of Römerstrasse in 5'59''9. The Belgian thus took 1”5 from Ott Tänak (Toyota) who finished tied with Dani Sordo (Hyundai). Esapekka Lappi (Citroën) and Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) were the closest, one second behind.
Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) stayed on the pace with less than 2 seconds behind the benchmark, ahead of Kris Meeke (Toyota) by half a second. The Fords of Teemu Suninen and Gus Greensmith remain further behind.
Ott Tänak maintains a lead of 5 seconds over Thierry Neuville. Sébastien Ogier still completes the provisional podium with less than 4 seconds ahead of Kris Meeke. Jari-Matti Latvala follows in 5th place ahead of Andreas Mikkelsen who is ahead of Dani Sordo by around ten seconds, while Esapekka Lappi is less than 2 seconds behind the Spaniard. Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota) remains 9th ahead of Gus Greensmith.
Tänak drops 1″5 to Neuville and remains in the lead at the mid-day break for a 5s lead. “I rode well even though the road was quite dirty. We are preparing for the big special (of Panzerplatte). »
Neuville takes the provisional scratch, 1″1 ahead of Lappi. Enough to reduce his delay on Tänak? “I feel good behind the wheel and we hope to have a better afternoon. »
Ogier ranks 6 tenths behind his teammate Lappi and ahead of Meeke by half a second. He is ahead of the Northern Irishman by almost 4s in the general classification. “I am satisfied with this time. »
Meeke drops a small second to his teammate Latvala who is 4″2 behind in 4th place. “It's not too bad. The differences are very small. Everything can change this afternoon. »
Latvala misses the benchmark for a tenth behind Lappi. The Toyota driver remains 5th. “I enjoyed this ES. This time should be good. »
Mikkelsen failed almost 5 seconds behind Lappi and Sordo and retained his 6th position for around ten seconds ahead of the Spaniard. “I went wide in a corner and missed an exit before a long straight. I wasted a lot of time. The car is good, it's my driving that I need to perfect. »
Lefebvre retired after going off the road on SS9
Greensmith sets the 4th fastest time, almost 5 seconds behind Lappi. The M-Sport driver is 10th.
Lappi improves Sordo's time by 4 tenths and is 1”8 behind the Spaniard.
