Also starting again in Rally 2, Suninen set the 7th time, almost 27 seconds behind Loeb. The M-Sport driver is in 19th place.
The crews will now head to the 26,37km Otates special stage, contested from 17:11 p.m.
Sébastien Loeb (Citroën) took the scratch in Guanajuatito, SS11 of the Rally of Mexico, completing the 30,97km in 20'35"6. The nine-time WRC champion took a dozen seconds from Dani Sordo (Hyundai). Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport) was the closest, 4”3 behind. Kris Meeke (Citroën) followed just over eight seconds behind.
Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) and Ott Tänak (Toyota) lost more than two minutes. The Belgian had to stop after going through a ford while the Estonian suffered engine problems.
Sébastien Loeb thus takes the lead of the Rally of Mexico with a 5” lead over Dani Sordo. Kris Meeke moved up to third place taking advantage of Ott Tänak's troubles. Sébastien Ogier is only one second away from the provisional podium. Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai) completes the new Top 1 while Ott Tänak drops to sixth place. Thierry Neuville remains seventh.
Starting again in Rally 2, Lappi set the 5th time, 12″6 behind Loeb’s scratch. The Toyota driver is in 18th place.
Sordo ranks 12″3 by setting the 4th time. Loeb takes the lead of the Rally of Mexico with a 5” lead over the Hyundai driver. " Good for him. I had brake problems but generally speaking I don't like this ES. »
Loeb signs the provisional scratch with a 4″ lead over Ogier. “I didn’t waste any time. I just saw the dust at the end of the special. I attacked hard and didn't slow down at the end. » The Alsatian could well take the lead of the event, Sordo being 3s behind in the intermediates.
Tänak finished almost 3 minutes behind, just ahead of Loeb. “I only had 20hp left in the engine. »
Loeb could find himself hampered by the dust raised by Tänak's Toyota.
Tänak moves at just over 50km/h in a straight line. His Toyota appears to be seriously affected but does not appear to be damaged from the outside.
Tänak has a problem! The Toyota driver moves slowly in the special. The Estonian was in 3rd place ahead of Meeke and Ogier.
Loeb is ahead of Ogier in the 2nd split with a little more than a second ahead.
Tänak would have been the victim of a brief exit from the road. He would move with a banner hanging from his Toyota.
Ogier increases the pace by improving the provisional benchmark by 15”6. “I try to do my best. I have a better position on the road, but the fight is difficult. »
Ogier is currently faster than Meeke. The M-Sport driver could take 4th place occupied by the Northern Irishman.
Mikkelsen fails 7″5 behind Latvala. “I made a mistake by misunderstanding a note. It's not my best ES. I hope to do better. » The Hyundai driver is in 6th position.
Tänak seems to have lost around 7s between the 1st and 2nd split.
Loeb is 1″6 behind Tänak in the 1st split. He started with only 3″8 ahead of the Toyota driver in 3rd place.
Latvala improved Neuville's time by 1'43, which was also slowed by a slow puncture. The Belgian will no longer have a spare wheel for the rest of the passage. “I was bothered by the dust raised by Neuville. » The Toyota driver is in 12th place.
Neuville finally finished with a time of 22'39″3. “I'm not sure why the engine was exposed to water. »
