Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport) gained some air from his direct pursuers by being the fastest in the second pass of Myherin, the 15th special stage of Wales Rally GB. The five-time WRC champion was more than 3 seconds ahead of Toyota drivers Esapekka Lappi and Jari-Matti Latvala, while event leader Ott Tänak (Toyota) finished 6 seconds behind, tied with Thierry Neuville (Hyundai). Craig Breen (Citroën) was closest to the benchmark with 2 seconds behind despite his soft tires being at a disadvantage against the mediums on the dry roads encountered this afternoon.

Ott Tänak maintains a lead of 42 seconds over Sébastien Ogier. Jari-Matti Latvala remains in 3rd place with 5”5 behind the Frenchman but his teammate Esapekka Lappi has come back to 2 seconds. Craig Breen also came within 2 seconds of the 3rd Yaris WRC. Mads Ostberg (Citroën) remains 6th ahead of the Hyundai trio made up of Hayden Paddon, Andreas Mikkelsen and Thierry Neuville who are more than 5 seconds behind the Norwegian.

16h

Neuville remains behind with 6s behind Ogier. The Belgian remains 9th, 5 seconds behind his teammate Mikkelsen. “I had a good pace but the tires were moving too much. My suspensions are too soft. The road is drier than expected. »

16h

Latvala finished 3″8 behind Ogier and 4 tenths behind his teammate Lappi. The Finn remains 3rd, more than 5 seconds behind the Frenchman and still 2 seconds ahead of his teammate. “It’s surprisingly dry. I didn't ride very well here this morning. It was a little better, but still not good enough. »

16h

Lappi gives 3″4 to Ogier and 1″4 to Breen. The Citroën driver is only 1″8 behind the 3rd Yaris WRC. “I don't know what the right choice is in terms of tires. I didn't think the road was going to be so abrasive. »

16h

Ogier takes the provisional scratch 2s ahead of Breen. The M-Sport driver has almost ten seconds ahead of Breen who remains 5th in the standings. “Those who follow me are interesting to follow. It remained slippery in the forest. I didn't attack as much as this morning because the conditions were variable. »

16h

Paddon is ahead of Ostberg by 1″3 but the Hyundai driver is still more than 13 seconds behind Ostberg.

16h

Ostberg returns 6s to his compatriot Mikkelsen. “We got bad information because the road is completely dry. I'll have to watch my tires. »

16h

Ogier is a few tenths ahead of Mikkelsen in the special.

16h

Mikkelsen finished with a time of 10'40″3. It's 6s better than Ogier's scratch this morning. “It’s very dry now. The medium tires seem to suit better but the differences are very slight between the two compounds and we will have to see the conditions in the next SS. »

16h

Paddon is on the same pace as Ostberg at the first intermediate, 1″5 behind Mikkelsen. However, the road is dry, which forces the Norwegian from Hyundai to sweep.

15h

The strategies are once again very diverse:

Ostberg, Breen, Lappi and Paddon have 5 soft tires.

Ogier and Latvala took 2 soft and 3 medium.

Evans has 5 mediums.

Neuville, Mikkelsen and Tänak preferred to take 4 soft and 1 medium.

15h

Ostberg is almost 2s behind Mikkelsen in the first split.

15h

Mikkelsen starts now in the first SS of the second passage of the stage.

15h

Mikkelsen will set off on the second pass of Myherin in around ten minutes. Ogier was the fastest this morning, completing the 20,28km in 10'46″2.
