Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) achieved the provisional scratch in SS16 of the Sardinia Rally, the first special of the last stage, by completing the 14,06km of Cala Flumini in 8'59''2. The Finn took 5”5 from leader Ott Tänak (Ford).
Ott Tänak only has a lead of 18”8 over Jari-Matti Latvala. Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) still completes the provisional podium ahead of the Toyotas of Esapekka Lappi and Juho Hänninen. Sébastien Ogier (Ford) is still in 6th place ahead of Mads Ostberg (Ford) and Andreas Mikkelsen (Citroën).
Tänak finally lost 5″5 in Latvala and now only has an 18″9 lead over the Toyota driver in the general classification.
Latvala takes the provisional scratch with a time of 8’59”2. Tänak is 6″4 behind the Toyota driver in 2nd intermediate.
Tänak drops 5s on Latvala in the 1st intermediate. The Finn is already less than 20 seconds behind the leader.
Neuville improves Mikkelsen’s time by one second with a time of 9’08″9. The Hyundai driver is ranked 3rd.
Lappi sets the 4th fastest time, 3 tenths ahead of his teammate Hänninen. The Finn is isolated in 4th place.
Hänninen sets the 4th fastest time, 9″8 behind the provisional benchmark set by Mikkelsen. The Toyota driver is 5th.
Michelin clarified that Ostberg had selected 5 hard tires. Most of its rivals only run on soft tires.
Ogier is closest to Mikkelsen with 4″4 behind. The M-Sport driver remains 6th. “We’re saving ourselves for the Power Stage. »
Ostberg ranks 6″3 behind Mikkelsen. The Norwegian private pilot is in 7th place.

Here are the strategies of Michelin-shod drivers. Only Paddon, former leader of the Sardinia Rally who retired following a collision yesterday, chose a mixture of hard and soft tyres.
Latvala remains 24″3 behind leader Tänak at the start of the last stage. Toyota's protest was unsuccessful after the Finn was slowed by Ostberg who suffered a puncture on SS12.
