Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) lost more than 40 seconds after suffering a puncture in El Chocolate, the second special stage of the Rally Mexico. The Belgian hit a stone on the road.

Teemu Suninen (M-Sport) retired in the special, the front of his Ford being in a ravine with a visibly missing wheel.

Andreas Mikkelden (Hyundai) signed the scratch by completing the 31,57km in 23'50''6 with a little more than 2 seconds ahead of Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) and Dani Sordo (Hyundai). Kris Meeke (Toyota) followed 8 seconds ahead of Elfyn Evans (M-Sport). Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) is further away with more than 16 seconds behind, preceding Esapekka Lappi (Citroën) and Ott Tänak (Toyota) who suffered greatly from his opening position.

Andreas Mikkelsen leads the Rally Mexico with almost 3 seconds ahead of Sébastien Ogier and 4 seconds ahead of Dani Sordo. Kris Meeke and Elfyn Evans complete the Top 5 ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala, Esapekka Lappi, Ott Tänak and Thierry Neuville.
