Monte-Carlo Rally 2021
SS4 Chalancon – Gumiane 1 (21,62 km) will start at 7:28 a.m.
And the general classification after SS3:
Here is the ranking of this SS3:
In WRC2, Andreas Mikkelsen (Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo) is heading towards the scratch, ahead of Adrien Fourmaux (Ford Fiesta Rally2) by 1″3. 10″2 separate the two drivers overall after this SS3.
Very big blow on the other hand from Yoann Bonato (Citroën C3 Rally2) in WRC3, with a 22″4 margin over Yohan Rossel (Citroën C3 Rally2) in this SS3. The three-time French champion temporarily takes the lead by 13″3 over Rossel, Nicolas Ciamin (Citroën C3 Rally2) being 26″ behind.
Sébastien Ogier (Toyota) was in the best shape when he woke up early this Friday morning. Over the 19,61 km from Aspremont – La Bâtie des Fonts, covered in ice and snow, the reigning world champion found a Yaris WRC in full possession of its means after its brake problems the day before.
Author of the scratch in 14'00″9, the Gapençais leaves his teammates Elfyn Evans and Kalle Rovanperä at 2″7 and 5″7 respectively. Thierry Neuville lifts the best Hyundai i20 to 7″3, when the leader this morning Ott Tänak (Hyundai) loses more than 17″ after being very careful on the ice.
Overall, Kalle Rovanperä takes the lead ahead of Evans and Ogier, at 2″2 and 7″9, while Tänak falls to 4th at 8″7. Neuville follows at 14″3, while behind the Belgian the gaps are significant with Dani Sordo more than 1′ behind.

In the WRC2 category, it is the Norwegian who signs the provisional scratch in 14'49"9 (7th in the SS ranking!), 1"3 ahead of Adrien Fourmaux (Ford Fiesta Rally2).
15'47″1 for Loubet (Hyundai) in this sector, 1'46″2 from Ogier. The Frenchman was picked up by Andreas Mikkelsen (Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo) in this sector.
Katsuta finished in the Toyota Yaris WRC in 15'20″8, 1'19″9 behind Ogier.
With a choice of tires different from the competition (4 softs and two studs, compared to super-softs and studs for his rivals), Gus Greensmith (M-Sport Ford) concedes 1'29″2 on Sébastien Ogier's time. No statement from the Briton, visibly disappointed with his performance.
28″8 behind for Dani Sordo on this SS3. “I had no confidence in these conditions. »
In the general classification, it was Rovanperä who performed well by taking control of the race, playing with great consistency from the start, despite a half-spin in this SS3. But the order is turned upside down as leader Ott Tänak falls back to 4th position behind Evans and Ogier, 2″2 and 7″9 behind Rovanperä.
The Estonian is relegated to 8″7. “It’s just the ice,” confesses the 2019 world champion. “I was careful. We are here, that’s the most important thing. »
No one does better than Sébastien Ogier in this first sector of the day. Evans (Toyota) lost 2″7, Rovanperä 5″7, Neuville (Hyundai) 7″3 and Tänak (Hyundai) more than 17″ after losing a lot at the end of the special.
First in the special, Sébastien Ogier (Toyota) finished in 14'00″9. “The conditions are very different compared to recce. Not that easy. We really had to trust the information from our ushers. We were clearly a little too cautious, but we'll see. »
Studded tires are out for the WRC drivers, Sordo and Neuville (Hyundai) having taken three for the loop compared to two for their rivals.
