Esapekka Lappi steals the best time from Ott Tänak! The winner of the 2017 Rally Finland clocked 9'59″0, 3 tenths better than the Estonian. What if the Finn could play for victory at home?
In the other M-Sport, that of Gus Greensmith, we played the card of caution: the Briton finished 17″8 behind the best time on SS3.
Craig Breen also seems to be in good form this morning, the M-Sport driver signs the 2nd provisional time 2”8 behind Tänak.
4″7 behind for Takamoto Katsuta on the best time.
New best time for Ott Tänak, definitely in good shape this morning! The Estonian clocked 9'59″3.
Elfyn Evans finished just 2 tenths behind Rovanperä on this special! Are we going to experience a new duel between the two Toyotas?
Evans: “It still could have been better. It’s difficult to come here with notes that are new and it’s such a fast stage… The sand kind of holds you back – it’s quite a different surface to the previous stage and you can carry more speed than you don't think so. »
Difficult special for Thierry Neuville who already lost 11″2 on Rovanperä at the end of the 21 kilometers of SS3.
Neuville: “Everything is fine, but the grip changes all the time for me. I can't do more. There are a lot of corners that I could go full throttle, but I don't have the confidence. We can change whatever we want, but we won't find a good setting. It's frustrating but that's how it is. »
The championship leader finished this SS3 in 10'02″3.
Rovanperä: “It was quite slippery. I enjoyed the stage, but being the first car on the track isn't always the most pleasant. When you try to push hard, you get surprises. But we are on the pace and we don't want to take any stupid risks. »
Kalle Rovanperä sets off for this 3rd special aboard his Toyota.
The start of SS3 (Lankamaa 1 – 21,60 km) is scheduled for 7:55 a.m.!
