24 Hours of Le Mans 2021
Complete stop at Alpine with change of driver, full of fuel and new set of tires. It was Lapierre who took Vaxiviere's place aboard the A480
This is the end of this 21st hour of racing. As for a few hours already, it's relatively calm on the track. The GR010 No. 7 remains in the lead without really pushing and is now one lap ahead of its sister car with which Toyota is no longer taking the slightest risk. Alpine for its part, start to make the hole with Glickenhaus No. 708. The No. 36 now has a lead of more than 2'20. Unless there is a safety car or an incident, the American Hypercar does not seem able to come back since it carries out the same relays as the Tricolore, despite a larger fuel tank.
In LMP2, Team WRT still occupies the first two positions ahead of the No. 38 JOTA and the No. 65 Panis Racing. In GTE Pro, the No. 63 Corvette did not give up and came back to within 40 seconds of the No. 51 Ferrari. In Am, the pitstops allowed the No. 33 Aston Martin to seize the reins of the category but the No. 83 Ferrari should get back in front once the Englishwoman's 22nd pit stop has been completed.
Behind, Alpine widens the gap a little further with Glickenhaus No. 708. The A480 No. 36 is now 2'24 ahead of the car of the Derani-Mailleux-Pla trio
It's the turn of the No. 8 to go through the pits. The relays still do not exceed 10 laps. Hartley made 8 this time. Unlike the N°7, the N°8 fits a new set of tires
End of relay for Lopez aboard the No. 7. Conway replaces him. No tire changes, however, for the car in the lead at the 24 Hours of Le Mans
We leave Le Mans but we stay in the world of motorsport with Yohan Rossel. Through the Rookie Academy, AUTOhebdo supports the French driver, current leader of the WRC3 and recent winner of the Ypres Rally in his category. You also support him in his quest for the world crown via the KissKissBankBank participatory platform
Small wheel lock for José Maria Lopez. More fear than harm for the Argentinian who was still asked to remain calm at the end of the race
New supply for theAlpine No. 36 almost 3h30 from the end of the race. She leaves 3rd with more than 2 minutes ahead of the No. 708, her closest pursuer.
Slow Zone at Les Hunaudières after the No. 388 Rinaldi Racing Ferrari went off the track at the first chicane. The car hit, sending several pieces of debris onto the track requiring the intervention of the marshals. The 488 returned directly to its garage for repairs and perhaps even to abandon
Toyota is taking no risks with the No. 8 and makes it wait more than two minutes when refueling to check that everything is fine. This obviously has no consequences since it remains 2nd, one lap behind the sister car.
20th hour of racing completed by all competitors still on track. Concerning the different category leaders, no change is to be noted. The No.7 Toyota leads in Hypercar and overall. In LMP2, Team WRT monopolizes the first two positions with the No. 31 ahead of the No. 41. In GTE, Ferrari leads in Pro (No. 51) as well as in Am (No. 83)
Little information from Le Mans: the public will not be able to invade the track at the end of the race. The ACO nevertheless insisted on organizing the parc ferme on the start/finish straight, thus allowing spectators to closely follow the celebrations.
Relay ended for the No.7 Toyota which plunges into the pit lane. “Pechito” Lopez covered 12 laps and returned to the track with a full tank of fuel and a new set of tires. Unsurprisingly, he remains at the head of the race
Routine stop forAlpine No. 36 with Mathieu Vaxiviere at the wheel. The A480 continues its journey in 3rd position for its return to the premier category and is heading towards a final podium
Here is an update on the withdrawals confirmed in this 89th edition
To this list are added the Porsches No. 72 and No. 79 as well as the Aston Martin No. 98
End of the neutralization period at Le Mans. The race resumes its course
Full Course Yellow imposed by the race management to allow the marshals to put certain elements of the circuit back in place
High speed alert. Here are the highest top speeds by category. 339,1 km/h for the No. 7 Toyota in Hypercar, 324,9 km/h for the No. 26 G-Drive in LMP2, 309,1 km/h for the No. 64 Corvette in Pro and 306,5 km /h for the Aston Martin N°95 in Am
Victim of its mechanics, the Ferrari No. 54 (GTE Am) returned to its stand at a slow pace. It smells like the end of the race
At the front, the gap stabilizes between the No. 7 Toyota, leader since the start, and the No. 8. A little more than 2'20 separates the GR010 who are comfortably seated in the first two rows
