Barcelona Tests 2018
We will leave for today. Thank you all for following us, see you on this same page tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. for the start of the second day of testing!
The first day of testing ends in showers. No driver improved his time during the last hour. This afternoon will therefore not have allowed Daniel Ricciardo's opponents to dislodge him from first place on the time table.
It's raining so much that Fernando Alonso uses rain tires:

It's raining for good on the Spanish circuit! Half an hour from the end of this day, will the teams change the car settings to venture on wet roads?
Romain Grosjean leaves the garage, but only for one lap, warns his Haas team:
Final hour of track time here at @Circuitcat_eng. @RGrosjean darts back out again in the # VF18. Just for one lap though! # HaasF1 pic.twitter.com/1wIu4d7kUE

Carlos Sainz Jr warms up the spectators in the stands by starting a relay. The Spaniard got the 6th time of the day, in 1'22″428.
Some photos of the Alfa Romeo Sauber C37 in the hands of Marcus Ericsson:
While we wait for the red flag to clear, let's just take a second to appreciate the few morning lapses for @Ericsson_Marcus and the team! Looking good #alfaromeosauberf1team #F1 pic.twitter.com/vD4K8szx8Y

It's very, very quiet at the moment. Kimi Räikkönen completed a few laps like Sergey Sirotkin, but they returned to the pits to warm up.
Until 2007, F1 cars went hard through the last two corners; an old track that Fernando Alonso knew well. Unfortunately, it's not certain that this round will be counted...

Sergey Sirotkin cautiously recorded his first full lap of the day in 1'44″148.
After an hour and a half of testing this afternoon, only three drivers improved their times compared to this morning:
Fernando Alonso (5th in 1’21″339)
Romain Grosjean (8th in 1’22″578)
Marcus Ericsson (11th in 1’23″408)
Our reporter is currently collecting the words of Christian Horner, the Director of Red Bull in the Barcelona paddock. The F1 guide will be available tomorrow evening in digital version and Thursday March 1st on newsstands:

Lewis Hamilton moved up to 6th place in the afternoon with a time of 1'22″327.
While Fernando Alonso continues to run on the Barcelona circuit (without improving his best time), here is some bonus information: the sponsor Kimoa is a ready-to-wear brand, created by… Fernando Alonso.
The temperatures have really dropped on track, but Fernando's adding to his lap tally and improving lap times. #BarcelonaTest pic.twitter.com/RqfwuG4cY5

The V6 Turbo Honda engine runs like clockwork, the proof: Brendon Hartley has completed 88 laps, current series.

Carlos Sainz Jr took the wheel of Nico Hülkenberg for the second session of the day. The Spaniard is not in the hunt for the best time, since he concedes 13 seconds on the leader Ricciardo:

Fernando Alonso slightly improves his time with super soft tires (5th in 1'21″339); he even achieves the best last sector of the day so far.
There are only four cars on the track: the Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo, the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton, the Toro Rosso of Brendon Hartley and the McLaren of Fernando Alonso.
The four-time British world champion is back:
