The winner of the Rally of Sweden finds himself at the top of the Championship with 4 points ahead of Sébastien Ogier and will thus open the road to the Rally of Mexico (March 9 to 12). Ott Tänak follows 15 points behind the Finn, ahead of Dani Sordo by 8 points. Craig Breen follows 5 points behind the Spaniard with a 2 point lead over Elfyn Evans. Thierry Neuville is only 8th in the Drivers' standings, two points behind Stéphane Lefebvre.
Among the Manufacturers, M-Sport remains in control, now 20 points ahead of Toyota Gazoo Racing. Hyundai Motorsport follows Malcolm Wilson's team 33 points behind. Citroën Racing brings up the rear 47 points behind the British structure.

Toyota wins for the first time in the WRC since Didier Auriol's victory at the 1999 China Rally. The Japanese manufacturer has not won in Sweden since Matts Jonsson in 1993. This is Latvala's 4th success in Sweden after his victories in 2008, 2012 and 2014.

Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) wins the Swedish Rally, finishing ahead of M-Sport drivers Ott Tänak and Sébastien Ogier. Dani Sordo (Hyundai) and Craig Breen (Citroën) complete the top five ahead of Elfyn Evans (Ford), Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) and Stéphane Lefebvre (DS 3). Pontus Tidemand (Skoda) won in WRC 2 ahead of Teemu Suninen (Fiesta R5) who completed the top ten.
Jari-Matti Latvala also won 5 bonus points for the Power Stage by completing the 16,43km from Torsby in 8'51''1. The Finn was 1”2 ahead of Sébastien Ogier, while Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) followed at 1”5 ahead of Kris Meeke (Citroën) at 3s and Hayden Paddon at 7”7.
Latvala signs his 17th WRC victory. " It's incredible. We can already win even though the team and the car are completely new. We will move forward and win many more. The situation will change since I will have to open in Mexico since I am leader of the Championship. »
Latvala wins the Swedish Rally! The Toyota driver also won the Power Stage with a time of 8'51″1 where he was ahead of Ogier by 1″2. Neuville followed in front of Meeke and Paddon at the end of the Power Stage.
Tänak only sets the 6th provisional time, 7″9 behind Ogier. The Estonian lost a lot of time at the end of the special but still secured 2nd place and claimed his 5th podium in the WRC. “It was a good weekend as I opened the road on Friday. Latvala was untouchable this morning and I preferred to stay on course to avoid making a mistake. The season is still long and the start is going well. »
Latvala has a lead of 3 tenths over Tänak in the first split.
Ogier takes the provisional scratch by 2 tenths ahead of Neuville with a time of 8'52″4. The M-Sport driver secures the last step of the podium. “I’m happy with this weekend. It was a complicated event but we scored quite a few points in the Championship. »
Sordo sets the 4th provisional time, 6″4 behind his teammate Neuville. The Spaniard secures 4th place and finishes first Hyundai driver. “I am satisfied with this result, but I must admit that Thierry was faster. We always ensured by bringing two spare wheels each time. »
Breen sets the 5th provisional time, 13″9 behind Neuville. The Citroën driver secures 5th place. “We have work to do because we had to drive at 150% to ensure this result. But the car has a lot of potential. »
Evans sets the 4th provisional time, 4″3 behind Neuville. The Welshman maintains his 6th place against Paddon for a 4″6 lead. “I would have liked to be faster but the main objective has been achieved. »
Paddon sets the 3rd provisional time, 6″1 behind his teammate Neuville. The New Zealander is in the fight for 6th place against Evans but he was still 7s behind the Welshman before the start of the special. “It was a difficult rally where we encountered a lot of problems with the car. »
Lefebvre signs the 3rd provisional time at 21″1 from Neuville’s provisional scratch. The DS 3 WRC driver secures 8th place. “It’s a very good weekend for us. We progressed throughout the week, achieving a good rhythm. »
Tidemand finished 2″5 behind Suninen and secured victory in WRC 2 at home. “It means a lot to me. This is an important step in my career. »
Suninen finished half a minute from the provisional scratch. The Finn should take 2nd place in WRC 2 and 10th place in the general classification.

Meeke sets the 2nd provisional time, 1″5 behind Neuville. The Citroën driver secures 12th place. “I had a hard time seeing the level of grip in the first corners. We have a lot of work ahead of us. »
