Hamilton signs his 77th pole in F1 and becomes the greatest pole-sitter at Spa with his 5th pole on the Belgian circuit. It is also his 6th pole of the season. With a time of 1'58''179, the Championship leader was 7 tenths ahead of Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari).
The Racing Point Force India will monopolize the second row with Esteban Ocon in 3rd row ahead of his teammate Sergio Pérez. Romain Grosjean (Haas) secured 5th position ahead of Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) who could have taken pole without a mechanical problem encountered in the final minutes. The Red Bulls were only able to take the 4th row with Max Verstappen 7th ahead of Daniel Ricciardo. Kevin Magnussen (Haas) set the last time of Q3, Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) quickly returning to the pits after spinning at Blanchimont while he was condemned to the back of the grid.

Vettel occupies first place with a time of 2'02"4, 2 tenths ahead of his teammate Räikkönen. The Ferraris are ahead of the Red Bulls of Verstappen and Ricciardo and the Mercedes of Hamilton. The Briton precedes the Haas of Magnussen and Grosjean and the Force India of Pérez and Ocon.

Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso) failed at the gates of Q3 at the Belgian GP, finishing half a second behind Kevin Magnussen (Haas). The Frenchman beat his teammate Brendon Hartley and could have qualified for the final session if Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) had not qualified. The Toro Rosso are ahead of the Saubers of Charles Leclerc and Marcus Ericsson, while Nico Hülkenberg (Renault) did not set a time due to his penalty.
Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) set the new lap record with a time of 1'41''501, a few hundredths ahead of his teammate Kimi Räikkönen and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes). However, Q3 should be contested on a wet track with a downpour arriving on the track.

Gasly is the first eliminated with 4th place signed by Bottas. The Frenchman is ahead of his teammate Hartley who is ahead of the Saubers of Leclerc and Ericsson, while Hülkenberg completes the ranking of those eliminated without having set a time.
