Räikkönen: “I have never been able to complete a lap without problems. I didn't even look at the gaps with the Mercedes. »

17h

Ricciardo: “We changed the settings of the front wing but it didn't work perfectly. It will be difficult to fight against the best. »

17h

Leclerc: “I have difficulty finding the words. We weren't confident after Friday because we thought we would struggle to reach Q2. This result is truly incredible. I don't know if I realize it yet. We will have to go with ultra-softs, which will not make our life easier for the race. However, I remain lucid about our potential. »

Abiteboul on Canal+: “We should power McLaren and our own team. The partnership with Red Bull will end, but we have to separate from our old roots, now that we have our manufacturer team. »

French GP qualifying results:

17h

Abiteboul on Canal+: “This circuit is not the most optimal for the characteristics of our car, but we must remain optimistic. »

17h

Grosjean: “I had great rhythm. We had a bad communication in Q3 and I started on new tires. I had to come back to the pits to put back worn tires. We changed the settings of the front wing and the car no longer reacted the same way. I could have gone back after my release but it didn't work, it sucks. The bad luck continues: we had an evo to install on one of the cars, we drew lots and it was Kevin (Magnussen) who got it. That’s how it is, we will try to do better tomorrow. »

17h

Gasly on Canal+: “Lewis is really very strong. He's a really talented driver. Mercedes' engine development seems to be working well as they finish first. It's really incredible to ride here. There are many more French flags, we feel more supported and it gives more energy. We struggled during qualifying but I plan to fight and improve on my 14th position because I really want to do better in my national event. We seem to perform quite well with the tires on the long stints. I rediscovered the circuit in terms of the speed with which we pass. I have already established myself in the minor disciplines here even if it will be more difficult to do the same tomorrow. »

17h

Vettel: “I tried to improve but I couldn't do better. We must be satisfied with this 3rd place because the car should perform better in the race. It's fantastic to ride in France, there are a lot of fans here. »

17h

Bottas: “It wasn't the perfect lap. I lacked driving in testing. We are reassured about the evolution of the engine. »

17h

Hamilton: “It wasn't that bad. A qualifying session is always complicated. It went very well in the first two sessions, but it was harder in the last one. It's really a good thing to come back to France after so long. »

17h

Räikkönen is content with 6th place, preceding Sainz Jr and Leclerc who finishes for the first time in Q3. The Haas of Magnussen and Grosjean complete the Top 10.

17h

If Bottas briefly took provisional pole, Hamilton regained his due by setting a lap in 1'30"029. The Briton signs his 75th Grand Prix pole, beating his teammate by a tenth. Vettel follows by just over 3 tenths. Verstappen completes the second row ahead of his teammate Ricciardo.

17h

The drivers seem to have difficulty improving their times in this last attempt.

17h

The Mercedes leave the pits for a final flying lap. The W09s temporarily monopolize the first row.

16h

Räikkönen misses his flying lap by failing to brake. The Finn only has one more chance to improve on his provisional 6th place.

16h

Grosjean crosses the pits while keeping his helmet on his head... At the same time, Räikkönen comes out of the pits.

16h

The session resumes for less than 8 minutes. No cars are leaving their garage at the moment.

16h

Ocon on Canal+: “We cannot be dissatisfied with this position. We got back on track after a difficult Friday. I was good in the car, I had a good lead over my teammate, but the gaps were very tight around 10th place. We need more budget and more grip. We will have to score points here, it’s important. »

16h

Only 7 drivers had time to set a time. Hamilton is on provisional pole ahead of Bottas, Vettel, Verstappen, Ricciardo, Räikkönen and Sainz Jr. Grosjean should start from 10th place.
