2017 Russian Grand Prix
The start of the Russian Grand Prix will be at 14 p.m. French time and will be followed live with our live text.
Sebastian Vettel took pole at the Russian GP in Sochi. Scuderia Ferrari monopolized the front row with Kimi Räikkönen. The Mercedes must be content with the second row with Valtteri Bottas preceding his teammate Lewis Hamilton.
Felipe Massa (Williams) took 6th place and finds himself between the Red Bulls of Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen. Nico Hülkenberg (Renault) follows in 8th place, preceding the Force India of Sergio Pérez and Esteban Ocon.
Massa took 6th position and is thus placed between the Red Bulls of Ricciardo and Verstappen. Hülkenberg follows in 8th place ahead of the Force India of Pérez and Ocon.
Vettel takes pole for the Russian GP ahead of Räikkönen who offers a 100% Ferrari front row! The Mercedes are on the 2nd row with Bottas preceding his teammate Hamilton.
The checkered flag is presented to the drivers.
Räikkönen does not improve his time and Vettel seems faster…
The Red Bulls of Ricciardo and Verstappen are the last to leave the pits.
Vettel is the first to come out of the pits. The Ferrari driver shares the track with the Mercedes.
The Red Bulls are unsurprisingly in provisional 3rd row, Ricciardo ahead of his teammate Verstappen by more than 2 tenths. The RB13s do not seem able to do better on a regular basis. Massa is in 7th place. Hülkenberg is 9th between the Force Indias of Pérez and Ocon.
If Räikkönen takes pole in Sochi, it would be his first in 1 Grands Prix. His last pole dates back to 127 at Magny-Cours!
Bottas fails just 36 thousandths behind Räikkönen and finds himself between the two Ferraris. Hamilton is only in 4th place, 4 hundredths behind the Championship leader.
Räikkönen gets into the pace of the Mercedes with a time of 1'33"2. Vettel follows by less than 2 tenths.
Strange behavior from Hülkenberg and Hamilton who clashed for position in their launch lap. The two drivers were not far from contact.
Bottas canceled his first attempt and let his opponents pass.
Q3 begins for 12 minutes. Hülkenberg shares the track with the Mercedes of Hamilton and Bottas.

Esteban Ocon (Force India) narrowly qualified for Q3 of the Russian GP by taking 10th place with 2 tenths ahead of Carlos Sainz Jr (Toro Rosso), the first to be eliminated from the second session. The Spaniard preceded Lance Stroll (Williams) by two hundredths and Daniil Kvyat, separated by only 4 thousandths. Kevin Magnussen (Haas) and Fernando Alonso (McLaren) completed the list of those eliminated.
The Mercedes struck a big blow with Valtteri Bottas authoring a lap in 1'33''264 where he was 4 tenths ahead of Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes). Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) follows almost 8 tenths after missing in his last attempt.
Those eliminated from Q2: Sainz Jr, Stroll, Kvyat, Magnussen and Alonso
Räikkönen moved up to 2nd place but he was still 4 tenths behind Bottas.
