While Pedro Acosta was crowned Moto2 world champion at the end of the Malaysian Grand Prix, Jaume Masià will in turn have the opportunity to kill the suspense one round before the end of the season in Moto3.
Currently ahead of Ayumu Sasaki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna) by 13 lengths, the Spaniard (Leopard Racing) will travel to Qatar holding his first match point.
If Masià wins the round at Losail, his rival will not be able to do worse than fourth, while a second place would force the Japanese to take the checkered flag in the top eight.
If Sasaki finishes higher than eleventh, he will have to pray that the championship leader does not finish third. If Masià falls short of the podium, he will have to at least score the point of fifteenth place to preserve his title hopes.
Behind the leading duo, David Alonso (Aspar), Daniel Holgado (Red Bull KTM Tech3) and Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo) still have a mathematical chance of winning the crown, even if their chances are minimal given their delay of 41 and 50 units on Masià, while only 50 points are still at stake .
In the event that the native of Algemesí does not win the championship in Qatar, the potential title will only have more flavor if it is won in front of his audience in Valencia, the closing round of this 2023 season.
