Johann Zarco's Austrian Grand Prix was more grueling than he expected. In the top-15 during the Sprint, the Frenchman hoped to repeat his feat on Sunday, in order to score points.
A completely different scenario awaited him. At the start of the event, the Cannes resident revealed that he had had mechanical problems, particularly with the engine.
A power problem began to complicate his task, but he decided to stay on the track, hoping for help from heaven.
Although predicted, rain never arrived, and the Honda driver reached the finish line in 21st position, almost a minute from the finish.
“I decided to stay on the track, hoping for a wet race, reveals Zarco on the evening of the test. However, it did not rain. So I took it as a session. The good thing is that we worked well this weekend and I felt good on the bike in the previous tests.

The engineers of the LCR Honda team will now have to analyze the data collected on Johann Zarco's machine in order to understand the reasons for this costly mishap. This Saturday the Frenchman made no secret of being annoyed by this kind of weekend, during which Honda cannot fight.
“It's unpleasant to take 1,5 seconds per lap compared to Pecco. When the tire can give, our motorcycle cannot use it. I try to compensate for some braking, but as soon as we accelerate we lose too much time. You have to try to be as consistent as possible and wait for others to lose in time” confided Zarco after the Sprint.
In the Drivers' championship, Johann Zarco nevertheless remains 18th, and best Honda driver. He is currently two lengths behind Augusto Fernandez, whose Gasgas Tech3 (KTM) arrived in 15th position, to score the last available point.
