The calendar of MotoGP 2025 is starting to take shape. While a few events have already blocked their dates to host the discipline next year, we now know where this new campaign will begin.

MotoGP has just announced that the Thai Grand Prix will be the inaugural round of the 2025 season but also of the 2026 season. Thus, the championship will hang a little in advance, to begin the weekend of February 28 to March 2, instead of March 10 as was the case in Qatar this year. However, these are only provisional dates.

This will be a first in more than 25 years for a Southeast Asian country. The choice, however, appears logical given the popularity of the event which, since 2018, has attracted more than 800 fans to the site. Especially since a Thai could be part of the 000 MotoGP grid, Somkiat Chantra being strongly anticipated to become Johann Zarco's future teammate.

Towards a completely revamped MotoGP calendar?

After 2020 and 2023, 2025 will mark the third absence of the Qatar Grand Prix as the opening round of the MotoGP season since the event began occupying this role at the start of the 2007 season.

The reasons for this change actually come from a conflict of dates with Ramadan, which will begin on February 28 and end on March 29. It is therefore impossible to start the season earlier or later than that.

Dates remain provisional until confirmed. The full and provisional 2025 FIM MotoGP calendar will be published by the FIM later in the 2024 season »concludes the latter.

We already know that the French and British Grands Prix will be held during the month of May. The second city radically changing its niche. It remains to be seen what future date reshuffles the next MotoGP season has in store for us.
