Pole sitter at Le Mans, Francesco Bagnaia "keeps his feet on the ground"

Despite a lap time that put him in pole position for the French MotoGP Grand Prix at Le Mans, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) is not getting carried away ahead of Saturday afternoon's Sprint and Sunday's Grand Prix.

Already in good form on Friday, Bagnaia confirmed his potential with the fastest time in Q2, ahead of Marc Márquez who had set the absolute track record in Q1 but was unable to repeat that performance. The Italian thus secured his first pole position of the season, on a circuit where he seems to be regaining his comfort and almost returning to the level he displayed in 2024, when he battled to the very end for the world championship against Jorge Martín.

However, number 63 does not see himself returning to the top of the hierarchy yet, and prefers to proceed with caution, especially in view of his 2025 season, where he repeatedly seemed to find his rhythm with a Ducati GP25 which he ultimately never tamed.

"It's never easy to say whether it's the weekend when everything falls into place, because we saw what could happen last year. I'm staying calm, keeping my feet on the ground, and we're going to continue working in this direction."he explained, before nevertheless highlighting some improvement during the Jerez test day, following the Spanish Grand Prix: "During the Jerez tests, it's clear we found something that helps me, so we need to continue in this direction and try to maintain the same pace for the Sprint."
