At the Qatar Grand Prix of MotoGP, Ducati took advantage of the penalty imposed on Maverick Viñales after the race to record its first double of the season. A key result for the factory team from Borgo Panigale, in a race where their rivals proved more formidable than usual.
Gigi Dall'Igna, Ducati Corse's general manager, made no secret of his satisfaction with his riders' performance. The Italian, however, particularly praised Marc Marquez's performance. After contact with his brother, Alex Marquez, at the first corner, the Spaniard fought for victory against numerous rivals, taking the lead late in the race and cruising to a third victory in four rounds.
"Marc [Marquez] was the author of intelligent race driving, confides Gigi Dall'Igna after the Qatar GP. He managed the situation well enough and when it came time to push, he set the fastest lap twice."
Faced with this new perfect copy delivered by the number 93, the star engineer from Bologna lets himself go and if the results were already clear, he recognizes that the two teammates are not currently riding at the same level. “It was pretty clean, He continues. I think that day he showed a certain superiority."
Despite everything, Gigi Dall'Igna is pleased with the performance of Pecco Bagnaia, who started second on the grid and finished in third position, before being promoted to second thanks to the sanction imposed on Maverick Viñales.
"I'm happy for Pecco too, because he had a great race after yesterday's tough day. It wasn't easy, but he reacted the way he does and I'm happy for him and his team." concludes the Ducati executive.
At the end of this fourth GP of 2025, Marc Marquez reclaims the lead in the standings, recording a total of 123 points. Pecco Bagnaia, for his part, remains third, 26 points behind. Between the two men, former championship leader Alex Marquez is second with 106 points on the odometer.
