Fabio Di Giannantonio is satisfied, but not entirely. The Ducati VR46 rider finished the Catalan Sprint on the podium, taking advantage of Raúl Fernández's struggles in the final meters to snatch third place. A solid result, but one that could have been even more impressive had the day not started so badly. "I'm a bit annoyed because I made a mistake in qualifying and started from the second row, so that made things a bit more difficult."he readily admits.
From this less favorable position, the Italian had to work differently, managing his progress lap by lap to rejoin the leading group without taking unnecessary risks. His pace at the end of the race was clearly there. "I was trying to catch up with the leading group without making any mistakes, but I was a few laps short!" He missed out on a few tenths of a second to turn the final duel between Álex Márquez and Pedro Acosta into a battle with a third protagonist.
Nevertheless, for a driver who was thirty points behind the championship leader before this weekend, every point counts. And Fabio Di Giannantonio knows it, concluding with his sights set on Sunday: "I'm still happy, and tomorrow we'll have another chance." With Jorge Martín crashing out in Sprint and Marco Bezzecchi finishing ninth, the championship context has changed slightly — an additional opportunity for the Italian to close ranks in the main race.
