After battling his M1 in qualifying to start from eighth position for the sprint race of the Indonesian GP, fabio quartararo did not cross the finish line after various incidents. A regrettable retirement on the Mandalika circuit, which was nevertheless favorable to the Yamaha with its strong grip and short straights. “We often expect to perform well on a circuit or not, and the complete opposite happens., explains driver No. 20, disillusioned by the lack of performance of his M1, despite the characteristics of the trackIt's more a question of feeling and we have to try to find solutions for the next races."

A Black Saturday for Fabio Quartararo at Mandalika

Following an already difficult qualifying session, a poor start cost the Nice rider dearly, who found himself in sixteenth place on the opening lap of the Sprint. As he moved up the field, taking advantage of the crashes ahead of him, the Yamaha rider ended up crashing in turn after taking too many risks. "I don't know what happened with the clutch, if I let it out a bit too much. I was spinning a lot and I ended up last, explains Fabio Quartararo, to justify his missed departure. I tried to get my rhythm going, but like at the beginning of the weekend, I didn't have any feeling with the tires or the bike, so I tried to find the limits a little bit, but that's already twice today. So we'll try to find solutions for the next races."

The Frenchman seems as disconcerted after his retirement in the Sprint as he was after his grueling Q2. "It's a very complicated weekend, we don't understand why we're having so much trouble and why the other Yamahas are going fast while I can't."

The Yamaha rider is now focusing on Sunday's Grand Prix. "For the race, the plan is to start with the same tires as in the sprint race, he explains. Maybe we'll put the tough guy up front." After the Indonesian GP, Fabio Quartararo will have four rounds to get back on track before next season, still with Yamaha. "I'm focusing on myself to prepare for the future and see what I can accomplish as a driver by the end of the year."
