A daring move can sometimes change the course of a race. At Le Mans, Jorge Martín (Aprilia) certainly didn't lack courage at the start of the sprint. MotoGP of the French Grand Prix. Starting eighth on the grid, he moved up to fourth position after the first corner, before braking late at the Dunlop curve to dive wide and emerge from the sequence in the lead. Having wasted no time, he was then able to set his pace and extend his lead, heading towards his 18th career victory in the Sprint format, his second this season after the United States Grand Prix.

Behind him, the day's pole-sitter, Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati), lacked the pace to compete. Dropped to third after one lap, overtaken by both Aprilias, he then regained the lead from Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) but was by then too far behind the leader to hope to catch him. He finished behind number 89, just as in Austin. Marco Bezzecchi finished third, conceding five championship points to his teammate and closest rival.

Quartararo scores points, Márquez makes a mistake

Starting from 6th position on the starting grid, fabio quartararo (Yamaha) got off to a great start, but was then overtaken by Pedro Acosta (KTM). He finished 5th in his home sprint. The other Frenchman on the grid paid the price for a strategic gamble that didn't pay off. Starting with a soft front tire, unlike his rivals, and on a track where temperatures were around 45 degrees Celsius, Johann Zarco (Honda LCR) made a choice that penalized him at the end of the race. He thus finished just outside the points, in 10th position.

Marc Márquez (Ducati) also had a chaotic sprint. Lacking the pace to fight at the front, he suffered a highside crash just before the final lap. Landing heavily on the track, the Ducati rider appeared to be suffering from an injury to his right leg. The incident, however, allowed Diogo Moreira (Honda LCR), who was behind him, to finish ninth, scoring his first sprint finish point.

As with Márquez, the situation was not encouraging for the VR46 riders, who both crashed at different stages of the race. The same was true for Luca Marini (Honda) and Jonas Folger (Tech3 KTM) early in the race, as well as for Raul Fernandez three laps from the finish.
