After a surprising Friday, Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia both failed to qualify directly for Q2. Free Practice 2 therefore presented them with a final opportunity to fine-tune their set-up before Qualifying at Mandalika.
In terms of time, we see some improvement for the official Ducati riders, who remain in the top 10 throughout the session, something they were unable to do the day before. However, they finish 11th and 13th at the end of the second time attack, overtaken by their rivals. It will be interesting to follow their performances in Qualifying.
At the top of the scoreboard, we once again find Marco Bezzecchi and his Aprilia. The Italian, author of a time of 1:29.862, at the start of the session. This time will be enough to earn him first place in Free Practice 2 at the end of the allotted time. Raúl Fernández, the only other Aprilia on track in Indonesia, given the absences of Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura, finished 6th.
Behind the leader, the Yamahas maintained their form at Mandalika. Miguel Oliveira – despite a crash at the end of the session – and Jack Miller easily secured the top 10. On the other hand, fabio quartararo is still struggling to find the limit with his M1. At least that was the case until the very end of the session, when the Frenchman clocked a time of 1:29.938, which propelled him into 2nd place. He was also the only one to go under the 1:30 mark, along with Marco Bezzecchi, which makes him a serious contender for the front row.
At Honda, Luca Marini and Joan Mir continued their momentum, finishing in the top 10, 9th and 10th. Johann Zarco's struggles, however, continued. The Cannes driver finished 18th in FP2. MotoGP in Indonesia.
