Seventh on the grid, Johann Zarco crashed once again in Catalonia. For the second time in a row, the Frenchman failed to finish a Grand Prix, thus justifying this bad habit.

Just as he seemed to have a promising pace, Johann Zarco once again suffered a decisive crash during the Catalan GP. On the Barcelona circuit, the Honda rider, whose contract was extended before the start of this weekend, MotoGP, was unable to maintain the pressure until the end of the race. Unlike a fabio quartararo constant, and rewarded with a fifth place at the finish, his compatriot appeared frustrated despite a consistent start to the race.

“It was cool to stay with Fabio and feel a bit faster. I tried to overtake him, get closer to him, and finally pass him, he explained to Canal+ after the Grand Prix. There was almost a fourth place to play for because I knew Pedro Acosta had the soft tire and that he would certainly lose time. But I was in no hurry. I tried to stay calm to drive as well as possible.

Zarco can't find the solution

Despite some notable performances this year, particularly when conditions turned rainy or tricky, Johann Zarco has been falling repeatedly. This Sunday, he explained that a lack of sensation was the cause, emphasizing the difficulty he faces on the handlebars.

"Unfortunately I crashed. When you look at that crash, everything is almost the same. That's what's upsetting me and that's what I'm stressing to the technicians, he developed. When the sensations aren't very good and I can't get a feel for the bike, I'm not wrong. For very little, I fall or I don't fall. I can't ride like that because it imposes too many limits. But we're still on the fact that we've recovered well, that we were pretty good today, but unfortunately we're not scoring the points we've had on Sunday."

Like Fabio Quartararo, who is able to maintain a consistent level of riding despite a Yamaha that is much slower than the big guns when it comes to reacceleration, Johann Zarco's challenge is to find this balance. Earlier this month, the French rider rightly explained that he had to accept not playing a leading role when it was intrinsically not possible, and seems likely to do so again this time. Especially since the next event, in San Marino, is already scheduled for this weekend of September 12-14.
