After a sensational start from the third row of the grid, the Madrid native dived into the Dunlop Curve, then overtook his teammate Marco Bezzecchi on the outside of the chicane, taking the lead in the Sprint! Once at the front, the Aprilia rider was untouchable, ultimately winning by 1,1 seconds over Francesco Bagnaia's Ducati.
Disappointed by his qualifying performance, while his teammate Bezzecchi had managed to place his Aprilia RS-GP on the front row, Jorge Martín gave it his all at the start of the race, and with success, even if such success was clearly not what he could have expected.
"Long live France! I love this circuit. I struggled a bit in qualifying, but I knew I had much better potential in the race. I put all my determination into my start, but I didn't expect to take the lead as early as the second corner!"
Winner of the Sprint for the second time this season after Austin, Jorge Martín also appreciated being able to attack as he used to do on the Pramac Ducati, with which he won the world title in 2024. The Madrid native is now returning to his best form, on an Aprilia that is also the benchmark for the MotoGP version 2026. Winner on a circuit which was not initially expected to suit the RS-GP, No. 89 is eager to compete in the Grand Prix this Sunday.
"From that point on, I attacked as I usually do, boom, boom, boom, on every lap, and I'm very happy, now we'll have to see what happens on Sunday."
