On the penultimate lap of the French Grand Prix Sprint, Marc Márquez, then seventh, lost control of his Ducati GP26 and crashed heavily on his right foot. Although he was able to get back on his feet, the reigning world champion quickly developed a limp and underwent an X-ray as a precaution. The X-ray revealed a fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot, which obviously prevents him from starting the French Grand Prix this Sunday.

The Catalan rider will travel to Madrid, Spain, this evening to undergo surgery. As a result, the official Ducati team has also announced that he will be unable to participate in his home race, the Catalan Grand Prix, scheduled for next weekend in Montmeló, near Barcelona. This is another blow in a season that has started much more difficultly for the number 93 rider than last year.
Marc Márquez has yet to win a MotoGP Grand Prix this season, despite dominating the 2025 season to secure his ninth world title. Fifth in the championship, 51 points behind leader Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) after this weekend's sprint race at Le Mans, the Cervera native will likely lose more points in the next two rounds, as he is still recovering from an injury sustained at the end of last year that prevented him from participating in the remainder of the season and the Valencia tests.
