Already an eight-time world champion in his illustrious career, Marc Márquez (Ducati) is decidedly unstoppable at the moment in MotoGPThe Spaniard takes another pole position, this time at Balaton Park, which the premier motorcycle racing category is visiting for the first time. Alongside him on the front row are Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) and Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46 Ducati).
The latter two had to go through Q1 after encountering difficulties during Friday's sessions. Their performances in Q2 surprised observers, but not Márquez, who highlighted the advantage of this additional session, which was very useful for building his pace on a completely new track.
« I'm surprised to see Bezzecchi and Di Giannantonio in the front line, but at the same time not really.", he explained in the Parc Fermé. “We mustn't forget that we're on a new circuit, and every time you put new tires on, you find new limits. Coming from Q1, they already had two fast laps under their belts, and therefore new benchmarks. They were very fast, but we did our job. I'm happy to start on pole position, clearly.”
The Spaniard will also certainly welcome the poor performance of his teammate Francesco Bagnaia, who could only manage fifth place in Q1, which translates into a fifteenth position on Saturday's starting grid. The Italian will start two places higher on Sunday, thanks to the penalties received by Álex Márquez (Gresini Ducati) and Jack Miller (Pramac Yamaha). The first round will begin at 15 p.m. French time, with the Sprint Race this Saturday afternoon.
