This is a fact that is observed nowhere else in Marc Márquez's results history. Yet the 2025 Indonesian Grand Prix perpetrated a sad statistic. The multiple world champion has never finished a race at the Mandalika circuit.
The venue, which hosted the 18th round of the 2025 season this weekend, once again saw the Spaniard fall – even though it wasn't his fault – before the finish. He thus missed the opportunity to add a 23rd circuit to the long list of those on which he has already won. Something he had managed to do twice this season.
When the 2025 season resumes, MotoGP, after the summer break, he added two new circuits to his list of conquests. The first was the Red Bull Ring, in Austria. A site that has long remained his bête noire, where he finished second, just 2 tenths of a second behind the winner, three years in a row.
The second track he added to his list this summer was Balaton Park. After a resounding dominance, he secured his seventh consecutive victory and added his name to the list of winners of the first Hungarian Grand Prix in MotoGP history.
Márquez to equal Rossi in Portimao
Of the 22 circuits on the calendar, only two have never seen the eight-time world champion reach the top step of the podium. In addition to the Mandalika circuit, Portimão (Portugal) is still missing from his list of achievements. Neither of these two tracks was on the calendar before Márquez's injury in 2020.
Later this season, the sport will head to Portugal, the penultimate round of the season, which hosted its first MotoGP Grand Prix in 2020, the year the number 93 was injured. If he wins there, he will equal the personal record of Valentino Rossi the number of victories on different circuits.
Over his entire career, there are onlyanother route where Marc Marquez rode without finding victory. This is the Buddh International Circuit, which hosted the only edition of the Indian Grand Prix, in 2023. The main race was won by Marco Bezzecchi, ahead of Jorge Martin and fabio quartararo.
