Marco Bezzecchi, poleman in Indonesia: "In MotoGP, you can't relax"

Marco Bezzecchi took a logical pole position in the Grand Prix Qualifying MotoGP Indonesia, on the Mandalika circuit. Reinforcing his dominance already displayed at the start of the weekend, the Aprilia rider dominated Q2, completing a lap in 1:28.832 to take the track record.

He left no chance for his rivals, as Fermin Aldeguer, the driver closest to his time, was only four tenths behind. Asked about his form and the consistency he has shown since the start of the weekend in the parc fermé, Marco Bezzecchi said: “It’s mandatory, you know. It’s true that I’m quite fast, but the pace in FP2 was very close between me and a lot of other riders. A lot of other riders are super fast. And as you know, in MotoGP, you can never relax.”

Bezzecchi focused on the goal

Happy to be on pole, the Italian knows it will be important to confirm his performance in the two races this weekend. In the second half of the season, he had already started in front in Austria, as well as in San Marino. Despite a Sprint victory on home soil, taking advantage of Marc Márquez's crash, he was unable to contain the latter's comeback in the Races in the two Grands Prix mentioned above.

As the world champion starts from 9th place on the starting grid, he has a real opportunity to repeat the feat of Silverstone. “I’m happy with qualifying, that’s for sure. Especially because it’s also the grid for tomorrow, not just for today. It’s important, but now we still have the main part of the weekend, which is the races. So yeah, let’s stay focused on ourselves. Let’s try to do our best.” he adds cautiously, aware that the work is not finished.

It remains to be seen whether Marco Bezzecchi will take advantage of this advantage in the Sprint this Saturday (start at 09:00 a.m. in France), as well as in the Main Race, which will kick off at the same time this Sunday.
