After a heavy crash during the Qatar Grand Prix in MotoGP, the reigning MotoGP world champion, Jorge Martín, was hospitalized in the nearest hospital. After more than a week of treatment, the number 1 was allowed to leave Hamad Hospital in Doha.
This is an important step in his recovery, as he is now preparing to return to Spain to begin his rehabilitation. Suffering from a hemopneumothorax and multiple rib fractures, the Aprilia rider will need time before returning to competition.
In a message published on his Instagram account, Jorge Martín nevertheless wanted to give reassuring news regarding his health.
“Finally out of the hospital, confides the Iberian. Thank you all for your messages and support during this difficult time in my life. I'm still in a lot of pain, but everything is under control. I'm going to stay a few more days in Qatar as a precaution, and as soon as possible, I'll return home to rest with my loved ones. I hope that will be very soon.

Martin will therefore remain in Doha for a few more days as a precaution. In the meantime, Aprilia Racing has confirmed that its test rider Lorenzo Savadori will replace him at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez.
The French Grand Prix, which will take place on the weekend of May 11, is also likely too close to hope to see the world champion at Le Mans.
Having suffered a string of injuries at the start of the season, Jorge Martin has yet to break even. In the only one of the five race weekends he participated in, he only finished the weekend sprint with a respectable sixteenth place.
