Le MotoGP is now stopping off at the Jerez-Ángel Nieto circuit for the 2025 MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix. Pecco Bagnaia is the defending champion, although he is a challenger to a highly-charged Marc Márquez, who will be racing on home soil.
A three-time consecutive winner at Jerez, the factory Ducati rider knows the battle promises to be just as intense as last year. In 2024, the two men already fought fiercely for victory. This time, however, they will be equipped with the same machines.
“It’s always great to start the European season again, it feels more at home, confides Pecco Bagnaia at a press conference this Thursday. This track is perfect for our bike, I can't wait to get started, I love this track. The three wins here have been great, last year with Marc, it was a great battle. This year his competitiveness has increased and I'm going to have to grow."
Always with the same honesty, the Italian looks back on a difficult start to the season, during which he was sometimes overwhelmed by events in the face of the outrageous domination of his garage neighbor.
“This year, the bike is already evolving at a very high level, He continues. We're just trying to improve there, because ultimately what Marc has done is take this bike to an even higher level. We're trying to understand where the gap is to Marc, on the left, and close it."
Despite everything, the main interested party believes he has the necessary weapons to block his teammate's path in Jerez. "I think I can fight for victory with Marquez. He's in fantastic shape. To beat him, you have to be one step ahead. Anyway, here I think I have the potential to fight with him." concludes Pecco Bagnaia.
