In 2025, Pecco Bagnaia endured a disastrous season at Ducati. Plagued by poor performances, the Italian never truly understood what prevented him from mastering the Ducati Desmosedici GP25. Worse still, Marc Márquez dominated the field, securing eleven victories and fifteen podium finishes to clinch the world title at the Japanese Grand Prix.

Eager to put what was the most difficult season of his career behind him, number 63 intends to start 2026 on a much better note. To achieve this, he undertook a very different kind of preparation than usual during the winter. Indeed, once he had completed his final lap in Valencia, during the Test Day held the Tuesday following the Grand Prix, Pecco Bagnaia took the time to unwind before delving into an analysis of his disastrous season.

"As soon as the championship ended, I tried to relax a bit and went on vacation with my wife, the Ducati rider recounts MotoGP.com, during the team presentation this Monday in Madonna di Campiglio (Italy). Then, from mid-December until now, I've had time to train, to reflect on last year's mistakes. I've been able to think about my errors, what I can do better this season, and I think that's been very useful.

A good start to 2026: an imperative for Bagnaia

He pursues : "Sometimes it's better to savor the moments and not think too much about negative things."Normally, we learn a lot from difficult times, and that's what I tried to do. I'm really looking forward to getting back on the motorcycle as soon as possible.. I'm very happy to have some time in Indonesia before the tests in Malaysia to get back on the bike, and the tests will be super important.

Aware that 2026 marks the last year of the current regulations before the switch to 850cc engines in 2027, he is counting on the stability of the Desmosedici GP: "Fortunately, there are fewer new features this season than before because it's the last year of these regulations. It will be important to find a good base, a good performance, and maintain it throughout the season."

With the Bagnaia-Márquez duo, Ducati approaches its centenary in a position of strength, although the Spaniard is the favorite. It remains for Pecco Bagnaia to prove that he, too, can write a new chapter in the history of Borgo Panigale and maintain his status as the most successful rider with the brand in MotoGP, adding a third victory to his record.
