Pedro Acosta secures the second pole position of his career for the Catalan Grand Prix. MotoGPThe first with the KTM factory team. The Murcian rider dominated a qualifying session that he never looked like relinquishing. Behind him, Franco Morbidelli caused a surprise by slotting into second position, confirming a return to form that was as sudden as it was welcome. Álex Márquez completes the front row, he being one of the usual specialists of the Catalan circuit.

The KTM rider, for his part, is enjoying himself without excess but with a frankness that has become characteristic of him: “I’m very happy, it’s clear the bike is performing well on this track and in these conditions. There’s still a lot to improve and a lot of boxes to tick. The electronics engineer isn’t here this weekend because he became a dad yesterday — congratulations, by the way!” This absence did not prevent KTM from setting the fastest time, which the rider was pleased about: "We're working as hard as we can. Thanks to the whole KTM team, because they're giving me everything they can, and I'm happy about that."

On pole for the second time in his career in the premier class, 588 days after the one obtained at the 2024 Japanese Grand Prix, during his rookie season with Tech3, Pedro Acosta knows that converting the try into a victory on Sunday would be a strong signal sent to Aprilia who, despite their difficulties today, remain the favorites for the championship.

A MotoGP victory he's still waiting for, and which could come this weekend. This achievement would also be sweet revenge for that infamous Japanese Grand Prix, where he crashed in both the Sprint and the main race while leading.
