After the outpouring of joy in Jerez, fabio quartararo Can he repeat the feat? Riding a Yamaha that's significantly below the Ducati in terms of performance, the 2021 world champion has few illusions about the rest of his season. Although his ambitions are numerous, he knows that the previous Grand Prix was more of a phenomenon.

"We didn't expect to be in pole position, nor to get on the podium. But if we have a good feeling, if we have the opportunity to be there, we will do it.", he first recalled. Obviously, everyone's goal is to be at the front, to get the best possible result. But just because we got a podium in Jerez doesn't mean we're ready to systematically aim for podiums. Jerez was a great weekend, but we'll see how we start on Friday and we'll set ourselves some goals during the weekend."

Aware of his bike's shortcomings, the Frenchman nevertheless worked with his team on the engine and its various settings to optimize its operating mode. "It's the same engine but with a little more top-end power, which is what we really needed. Unfortunately, it's a very small improvement, but it's still better than nothing, he puts it into perspective. The handling remains the same, but we've improved the 5th and 6th gears a little. This is something that will help us especially on fast circuits, to stay in touch on the straights.

A special context for Quartararo at Le Mans

Facing the French public, Fabio Quartararo will be able to count on total fervor towards him. Just like Johann Zarco, already grateful to the fans of MotoGP Demonstrating every year at Le Mans, the Yamaha rider recalled that public support could indeed make a difference.

"It's something super special. You know, we don't have the same luck as the Spanish with four Grands Prix. We only have one, so we have to make the most of it." Despite the pleasure of returning to France this May, Quartararo has not forgotten his great responsibility. Sometimes it puts a little more pressure on me, but over the years I've learned to really appreciate people and take advantage of their support. As a driver, it's one of the races where you can really feel the passion, see how much people look at everyone during the races. It's crazy."

Tenth in last year's sprint race, Fabio Quartararo was unable to finish the main race in front of his home crowd. This year, the Bugatti circuit in Le Mans is the target. The first indications of the Frenchman's pace will be known at 10:45 a.m., the start time for Free Practice 1.
