The winner of the 2020 and 2022 Catalan Grand Prix was unable to emulate his past triumphs, on a track he nevertheless loves very much. Lined up on the front row alongside future winner Álex Márquez, fabio quartararo did not find the fluidity of his start in the Sprint. He was quickly overtaken by the KTMs of Pedro Acosta and Enea Bastianini.

On lap nine, Fabio Quartararo faced his compatriot Johann Zarco. The latter took the lead before crashing on the following lap, leaving the race prematurely for the second time this weekend. Already disappointed in the sprint, Zarco retired again. Overtaken by Luca Marini shortly after, Quartararo quickly responded and regained the lead on lap twenty-two.

Quartararo continues to collect points at Barcelona

This main race concluded a solid weekend for the Yamaha rider, despite complicated free practice. After his second place in the sprint race, the Nice rider declared: " we will try to do the same thing tomorrow Fabio Quartararo made his efforts count: the Frenchman finished with eleven valuable points, moving up to eighth place in the championship.

"We knew the start of the race was going to be difficult. On Saturday, no one expected a second place and today I didn't expect to do better at all, confessed the Yamaha rider. We can see that we were lacking a lot of grip, but as I said it was a positive weekend. We are trying to take steps forward, assured the Yamaha pilot on Canal+.

“Dropping down the standings, unfortunately there was nothing I could do about it. I tried to gain experience, to find the best way to set good times without wearing out the tires. That's what allowed me to pass Luca Marini (Honda) at the end, deciphered Fabio Quartararo.

"I'm pretty happy with my race, even if it's not exactly what I wanted. I had a little less fun today than in the Sprint. It's true that when you're close to the leader, you have a little more fun, but it wasn't that bad today. We started very, very badly and we finished quite well, so there are still some positives to take away." concluded the Niçois.
