While Marc Márquez had come close to the pole position time for the 2025 Grand Prix this Tuesday, Joan Mir beat Pecco Bagnaia's mark from last October, with a lap of 1:56.874. Franco Morbidelli also went under the 1:57 mark with his Ducati from the VR46 team.
A few riders were able to take to the track in the afternoon before the rain disrupted testing, but some then took the opportunity to get acquainted with their machines in the wet. The Spaniard did not appear to be injured, however, and should be able to continue working on the Ducati Desmosedici GP26 he will be using this year.
While Yamaha lost its 2021 world champion for the remainder of the tests, the Iwata-based manufacturer experienced an even worse Wednesday than the day before! Indeed, no YZR-M1s took to the track today, due to a technical issue discovered yesterday on Fabio Quartararo's bike, which appears to be affecting the other machines as well. The Japanese manufacturer will therefore only be able to count on two days of testing at best. However, its status as a Tier D manufacturer allowed it to participate in the Shakedown with its test riders as well as its four factory riders, resulting in significant data collection.
MotoGP testing continues this Thursday, with a third and final day on the Sepang track in Malaysia.
