Starting ninth on the grid, the Nice rider managed to pull through after a few scrapes at the first corner to climb into the top five. The following laps unfortunately saw the Yamaha rider slowly slip away, mainly caused by vibrations in his rear tire. The 5 world champion, like most of the grid, had fitted a soft rear tire.

A phenomenon known as "chattering," these vibrations, or rather, up-and-down oscillations, destabilize the entire machine, especially during braking and corner entry. In these conditions, it's difficult to take the right line and maintain competitive lap times. Despite everything, the Frenchman was pleased to have experienced better sensations than during practice and qualifying, before the vibrations intervened.

"I'm not going to say I was in the top 5, it was just on the first lap! I think we managed to improve my feelings significantly, and I'm quite happy about that.", he explained to the official website of the MotoGP. "The race didn't go as I expected, but the feeling was better. I had a lot of chatter from the third lap onwards, and I couldn't put in any good laps or take good lines. Still, it was a positive day, I'd say."

At the microphone of Canal+, Quarterly wants to reassure about this Sunday's Grand Prix. If it's contested over double the distance of the Sprint, the medium tire will be an essential choice for the rear of the machines in Aragon. Enough to make the vibrations disappear? The Frenchman believes he has reason to hope.

« The vibrations were really strange, but I think with the medium tire on Sunday it will be better. I don't expect a top 5 either, but we can improve.", he explained, before adding to MotoGP.com: « "It's been quite common this year for us to have this problem when we're putting in laps, mainly on the soft tyre. It shouldn't be a problem for Sunday. Realistically, I expect to finish between seventh and ninth."
