Johann Zarco and Álex Márquez will therefore remain sidelined for at least one more Grand Prix, not participating in the Hungarian round at Balaton Park this weekend. As at Mugello last weekend, Briton Cal Crutchlow will replace the Frenchman on the LCR Honda. Crutchlow, who had not ridden in the previous Grand Prix, will be absent from the race. MotoGP Having competed for three years, he will therefore have another chance to get used to the very particular handling of these aerodynamically enhanced prototypes.
At Gresini, while Ducati test rider Michele Pirro had taken Álex Márquez's place in Italy, it is Superbike rider Iker Lecuona who will return to the MotoGP paddock to replace the younger of the Márquez brothers. Lecuona, who rode two full MotoGP seasons in 2020 and 2021 before making substitute appearances for Honda in 2023, will therefore be back on the grid this weekend, riding a Ducati.
The Spaniard's choice may seem surprising at first glance, but it's worth remembering that he participated in the Hungarian round of the Superbike World Championship at the beginning of May, on the same circuit. Finishing second in all three races that weekend, Lecuona therefore arrives with recent experience on a track that was already part of the MotoGP calendar in 2025, but which may have changed somewhat, particularly in terms of grip, over the past year.
The Hungarian Grand Prix will be held from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 June, on the Balaton Park circuit.
